I seem to be having some issues with Askimet. Has anyone tried using URL shortener service? I know most of these pass linkjuice.

Both your comments Ian, went in without a problem. I would probably recommend to use your full name rather than an alias that has keywords, some webmasters/blog owners can be a bit quick to label these things as SPAM (unfortunately). Anyway both of your comments weren’t in the SPAM queue.

Hi Paul, great thread, I found your site after trying to register for a tech forum and being thrown off because it said, ‘we don’t allow spammers’!

I then noticed that some of my comments we not appearing on blogs they normally get approved on.

It then struck me that as I do comment on a lot of sites with well thought out and sometimes quite long replies to tech issues I may have been akismetized.

So I am posting this in the way I would as ‘ThinkPadGuy’ just to see if it goes through or gets trapped.

I am going to throw a link in for good measure!

I think my domain has been flagged as spam by akismet and I am unsure why. I always post relevant and thoughtful comments and I do not bombard any blogs in a spammy way. Can you confirm if this has been caught by your spam filter? That would be of great help, thanks. John

I think I am also banned by Akismet for no reason. I only leave comments on blogs I read and that is very rarely.

Hi all, I tested 1 of my domains by commenting on my Other domain(as a website visitor) which is also a WP blog with Akismet. My comment appeared right away, I only did this test cause I was worried my comments were getting flagged as spam by akismet.

Obviously the link I used in the comment form web field was the first domain.
So to me this seem’s like a decent method of finding out whether you’re on
akismet’s hot list.(lol)

Of course not a 100% foolproof, but I’m guessing if someone’s blacklisted by akismet then ALL of the poster’s comments would be marked as spam. But I could be wrong.
